Civics Competition for Middle School Students

8/7/2024

For the third year, the 2025 National Civics Bee® Pennsylvania State Finals for middle school students in Pennsylvania will be managed by the PA Chamber Foundation. All 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in Pennsylvania are eligible to participate in this competition which is designed to encourage middle schoolers to become more knowledgeable about American democracy, engage constructively in their communities, and build trust in their fellow citizens and institutions.

Students participate by competing in a first-round civics essay competition, followed by a local quiz-bowl competition. Local winners receive a minimum of $500 for first place, and an invitation to compete in the National Civics Bee® Pennsylvania State Finals, where they have the opportunity to win additional cash prizes. The first-place winner of the Pennsylvania State Finals will earn a trip to Washington, D.C. to compete in the national championship in the Fall of 2025, with prizes totaling more than $50,000.

There are various resources to help students participate in this competition which will launch in Fall 2024 and close in Winter 2025.
