The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is pleased to share an important update regarding the Commonwealth’s Standards Aligned System (SAS), a foundational digital resource supporting LEAs statewide. SAS has long served as a central hub for academic standards, assessments, curriculum frameworks, instructional materials, professional development, and statewide initiatives. To continue meeting the needs of today’s educators, SAS has undergone a full redesign for the first time in nearly seven years.

To ensure a more reliable, modern, and user-friendly approach to sharing SAS updates, PDE is transitioning away from the SAS RSS Feed and launching the new SAS News Community.

After more than two decades, the 2002 academic standards for the arts underwent significant revision throughout the summer and fall of 2025 and into the spring of 2026. Now, these updated standards are ready for public review—and this is where your voice, expertise, and advocacy truly matter.
